AJ
Sea foam and salty air,
gravel and soft grass under foot,
my elbows pressing into your kitchen counters –
I'm filled with significance at your side.
Light streams through your windows
but the brightest, warmest beams are felt in
your eyes
your intellect
your attention.
Being seen is rare,
but not with you –
you delight in seeing,
in drawing out hidden treasures,
speaking value and affirmation
over each soul.
You're like Him –
forming matter out of dust,
mining diamonds.
Your color, I see it everywhere;
in a summer sky,
refracted light, transforming
water, earth and air.
Crisp like a ginger snap,
patient, like tinsel on the tree;
you're a “rightness” put forth with joy.
Outside of time,
I'd sit with you
like an Old Fashioned,
to sip and savor everything you love.
Sometimes I strain to hear
your secret song,
played behind closed doors;
I know I'll be invited in again.
I wait to sip softly from painted mugs,
lost in the laughter of shuffled decks
and tricks around your table.
A symphony of being,
buds and blooms;
your love is a masterpiece.
