Graveside Games

We shake our heads
As the young dance,
unaware of grief’s severity.

Their levities manifest
Such fleeting, earthly loss
Compared with future glory.

Children should play,
In the dirt of the earth;
Laughter should sound
At the graveside.

It’s proof that life
Is stronger than death;
Joy, more potent than sorrow.

There will be tomorrow.
